Chum by

Earl Sweatshirt

(2013)

In Chum , Earl Sweatshirt rap about feeling lonely in a world full of either too much ignorance or too much judgemental people and finding his place as a person and in the rap game. In the line ¨ Too Black for the White kids, and to White for the Blacks¨ the artist uses oxymoron. The meaning of the the line is to explain that as a person his character was was rejected from both White, Blacks, and other groups so he was treated as an outcast only  to be found by his friend and fellow artist Tyler the Creator. The effect of the figurative language is to explain his problem with assimilating with people when he doesn't have the same ideas or interest like many teenagers in his situation. In the line ¨We were the pottymouth posse crash the party and dip¨ is alliteration. The meaning of the line is that his crew, friends , or ¨clique¨ is outspoken , crazy, and not afraid to be who they are. The effect of the figurative language is to explain his to explain his

how they all are on the same page and overall going for the same goal. Overall the language contributes to the  regretful  tone which connects to people in my life.
