I Know
by Kirk Knight
In I know, Kirk Knight about his Past and present struggles as an outsider and living in poverty and the hard life in flatbush. In the line ¨I know, I know, I know/You gone say you feel me/I do not believe you/Tell me what you know about the struggle, nigga/That shit do not leave you/Not if you a man/Have you ever had to cool a nigga head/When he had a fucking burner in his hand¨ is a oxymoron. The meaning of the line explains that you can assimilate and pretend to understand my struggle but you have not gone through the same trials and tribulations that make him who he is today. The effect of the figurative language is not to only to deliver flawlessly but explain how he had to get to where he is. The effect of the figurative language is not just to contrast himself to explain that you or the audience has not been through the same strife and trials as a man from chicago or New York. In the line ¨More aliens I know I needed distance/Ever had that homie that didn't listen is a metaphor. The meaning of the line is referring to the Aliens and New people who he wants to distance himself from. The effect of the Figurative language is to explain that he doesn't need new friend a the moment because he his crew know what it like to live like he did. Overall the language contribute to the Remiencant tone which connects to my past.
